Barbet News (page 14)
The first litter of barbet puppies has been born in the UK.
Seven pups, all in a line.
Betsy gave birth to seven puppies on 04/03/08. The births went without a hitch, as instinct took over so there was no need for us to interfere. Starting at about 10:00 am the puppies arrived roughly half an hour apart and all seemed healthy and started suckling as soon as Betsy had got them cleaned up.
Betsy and her pups at 2 weeks old.
The litter comprises two females and five males. Of the males, three are brown with a white bib and two are solid black, just like mum. Both females are brown, one solid and one with a white bib.
This gives the UK an excellent spread of what is available within the breed and hopefully they will all go on to be wonderful ambassadors of the French water dog in the UK.
The puppies now have their own page so that their progress can be followed until they leave our care and go to new homes.
