Barbet News (page 12)
First Barbet litter due in the UK. While most people were nursing hangovers on New Years day, we were up at 6:00am and off on the long drive to Holland. Betsy came into season over Christmas so while it was not the best timing, we had to take the opportunity as it arose.
Borée di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco
By that evening and 481 miles (770km) later, we were in Holland near the German border and had met up with our hosts Henk & Wanda. The first introduction of Betsy Bonheur de la Baie des Landes to Borée di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco went without a hitch, you could say they were keen to meet !!
We spent an enjoyable few days in a lovely part of Holland and also had a chance to see some of Henks` puppies from his female barbet Aubey. After thanking Henk and Wanda for their kindness and hospitality we made the, by now, well practiced trip across the channel and back home.
Betsy`s character changed the day after returning to the U.K. Whereas before she has never been food obsessed, mealtimes have taken on a new urgency and woe betide our other dogs if they turn away from their food for even a second. It has been hard to make sure that she does not over eat! Betsy has started slowing down in the last few weeks as her pregnancy starts to show but she is in excellent health and all seems to be progressing well. We estimate that the puppies are due around the 3rd of March. We will keep you all posted of any news.
